Let’s face it! Covid-19 has really changed the dynamic of many things this year, hasn’t it? Many people lost their jobs, lost their businesses, and many sadly lost loved ones. It’s true, we are in very dark times, and it’s not something I see improving quickly. Which leads me to advise, if you are looking for work, I suggest using your existing network. Let me explain further.
Things are tough!
Millions across America have been furloughed or laid off since March of this year. Money is tighter than it was in the Great Depression. Many are struggling to feed their families. The future looks grim, and because of this, the rate of depression, stress, and anxiety is at an all-time high.
Many people are at a complete loss as to what to do next. As things get more challenging, which I believe they will, more people will fall into what I call the “Woe is me” trap. This is where they’ll lose any hope they have left and stop functioning. They already feel lost, broken, and unsure of what to do next, or even question if they are capable of doing anything else.
But not all is lost, there’s hope. Even with all the devastation around us, there is still a light at the end of the tunnel. For those of you who have just perked your ears up, listen closely. Things are rough right now, but there are still opportunities out there. In fact, opportunities are everywhere. All you have to do is seek them out.
Many people have flourished during these times, myself included. Some people have found new jobs, and others have even started their own business ventures. People have decided to take a less than desirable situation and turn it around for good. It’s given them the inspiration to take action and make things happen. Many people are now doing better than they were doing before the declaration of the pandemic.
So, what’s the difference between these people and where you may be right now? They took action and used resources and the existing network they already had.
That’s right. The people flourishing and finding work in the end of year market are doing so because they are making the smart moves. They’ve assessed where they are today and what resources they have available to them.
While assessing the current network they’ve questioned: Who do they know that could help? Who do they know that they could help? Quite frankly, asking the right questions will bring you the answers you need.
My friend, it’s now time to shine! This is not the time to sit idle, you must take action. So, do yourself and your loved ones a favor, activate your network now. Start with who you know and who you could help in this difficult time.
Finding a new job at the end of the year doesn’t have to be difficult or impossible. Using the resources and network you have in place already, you could find yourself being one of those people flourishing. It really is up to you to make a move now and make it happen. So, what will you choose to do?
